NOURISH THE SKIN YOU'RE IN
Today we ask gorgeous creative, Rachel Ilsley, founder of Moss Piglet Designs, her top tips to nourish the skin you're in.
1. What do you do as part of a regular routine to look yourself?
I've never been that great at routines really, I'm not organised enough to do the same things religiously. These days I'm definitely kinder to myself and more conscious of what I put on my skin. I make my own face masks using natural ingredients. I try to remember to take my make up off before bed, even if I've had a little too much to drink, something I've failed miserably at over the years. I work from home and have a endless list of stuff to get on with but realised, for my sanity and health, I needed to make myself leave the house for a walk everyday, I live next to a park so it's definitely not a chore, the fresh air and exercise of course always makes me feel better. I also try to avoid buying my clothes and accessories on the high street, I love discovering independent labels and designers, two of my favourite's are Disorder Boutique & Burbo K'ture...
2. What are the key things you have found that nurture self-nourishment?
I've jumped on the juicing trend. I really miss having a fresh juice now if I can't make one for whatever reason. I also drink a hot lemon in the morning, not quite as tasty as a good juice but I know it's good for me. I have rid my bathroom cupboards of any unnatural products. For years I've brought so many products having been brainwashed into thinking I needed them, from creams to hairsprays to make up and all the other things were' told we need to look beautiful, all pumped full of horrid ingredients. I could see and feel an instant change when I swapped to all natural products and I saved money in the long run too.
3. What could you do more of to nourish the skin you're in?
I could do so much more but the main thing I know is to quit smoking. I do wonder what my skin would look like if I hadn't enjoyed partying as much!
4. What top tips have you got to give others around your working life to stay on top?
Well, I'm a working progress when it comes to being on top with my business so I'm not sure how qualified I am to give any advise or tips but I would say, It can all become a bit overwhelming sometimes when you're trying to create or juggle your work load but to give yourself praise for your achievements however small you may think they are instead of focusing on feeling guilty for the things you haven't done. Small steps lead to far away places and all that. Encourage others and spread and share knowledge whenever you can. It's easier said than done but try to find balance in both your work and home life.
5. What are the things you couldn't live without that are key to your happiness and nourishment?
I couldn't live without going on adventures. I've always been at my happiest when I'm travelling and exploring new places. I'd also struggle to live without friends, family, music, kisses, ice cream & snoozes!
