NOURISH THE SKIN YOU'RE IN
Today we ask the marvellously talented business woman, Debbie Clarke of debbiedooodah her tips to nourish the skin you're in.
1.What do you do as part of your regular routine to look after yourself?
I'm not sure I have a regular routine, I do things that keep me alive, like always eat breakfast, try to go to bed at a sensible time and eat dinner! I always wash & moisturise my face in the morning and before bed. I had very spotty skin for a long time (20+ years), so it's a thing I need to keep under control. I know that I should meditate more often, swim, do yoga - but Robin, work, Aidan and friendships always take priority! So I reckon spending time with loved ones are the things I do to look after myself.
2. What are the key things you have found that nurture self-nourishment?
When I'm not as busy as all get out, I like to drink lemon, ginger and turmeric tea in the morning - I make a massive pot, but that goes out the window when I have clients or morning meetings. I like getting outside in the countryside and going for walks. Recently I've been listening to meditation videos before bed, that helps me to relax. I do enjoy yoga, but obviously not enough to make it a daily or weekly priority.
3. What could you do more of to nourish the skin you're in?
Drink more water, drink less alcohol, get more sleep, do more exercise!
4. What top tips have you got to give others around your working life to stay on top??
Only take on what you can actually do. Do work that you love, with people you love. Be focused on the tasks and break things down into manageable chunks. There are so many things I want to do with my business, I can sometimes feel like I'm swimming, so it helps to know that you don't have to do everything now, and even the biggest task can be broken down. Mostly love your job and then it won't seem like work.
5. What are the things you couldn't live without that are key to your happiness and nourishment?
My daughter Robin, my lover Aidan and my fabulous friends who've supported me through so many trials and tribulations we could write a shocking and funny book.
