NOURISH THE SKIN YOU'RE IN
What do you do as part of a regular routine to look yourself?
I ensure that I incorporate a lot of walking each day as part of my daily exercise regime and throw in a bit of yoga on the weekends. As for my diet, I follow the 80-20 rule, with fruit and veg making up 80% of my diet. I find that this keeps me feeling light and makes me more active and alert.
2. What are the key things you have found that nurture self-nourishment?
I embrace minimalism and the peace and calm it brings me. I also find that cooking and baking help me relax, and the fact that I enjoy these two hobbies makes them my go-to tasks when I feel stressed, need to think or clear my head. Another stress-buster for me is playing the piano, so I do try to find time to practice a little everyday, even if it’s just for an hour.
3. What could you do more of to nourish the skin you're in?
As we all know, not getting enough rest takes its toll on the skin; from dull, lack-lustre skin to breakouts and dark circles around the eyes; these are just some of the common side effects of not getting enough sleep.
I’ve promised myself to look into ways that could help me get a good night’s sleep, as I suffer from insomnia and still haven’t found a way to deal with it.
4. What top tips have you got to give others around your working life to stay on top?
Find the time, no matter how busy you are, to spend time and surround yourself with the people who care for you, make you laugh and have your best interests at heart. It’s okay to say no sometimes and it’s also okay to let your inner child-like spirit shine. Most times it’s these simple things that help us cope with the stresses of our daily lives and help us maintain our sanity.
5. What are the things you couldn't live without that are key to your happiness and nourishment?
A good laugh, good food, and good friends I can be myself around to share these with.
