Fi’s practical knowledge as a holistic instructor, her dedication, and genuine enthusiasm combined, offer a truly immersive full body and mind workout. There is no room for judgement, ego or expectation during sessions, Instead, you are invited to take that all important YOU time, to focus on exactly that, whether that be to work on tight hamstrings, to challenge yourself, or to relieve stress. (or maybe all of the above). Complete beginners, keen yogi’s, brogi’s, (guys), all ages and abilities are always welcome.
Fi currently delivers sessions across many of Nottingham’s prestigious health clubs and independent studios, as well as hosting wellbeing programmes for Corporate clients. Introducing Vicky Taylor, founder of 'Neighbourhood Massage', who is today answering a raft of new wellness questions for our 2018 blog!
How important do you find self-nourishment is?
It is far more important to me now in my forties than in my twenties when I could eat what I wanted. Now if I don’t eat well or exercise regularly I feel pretty bad.
I started practising yoga 6 years ago as although I’ve always been sporty playing county netball I had to stop after rupturing both Achilles’ tendons. Thankfully not at the same time. Yoga is brilliant in helping you be more aware of yourself and the world as well as keeping you supple. The first thing I learnt was the sun salutation and I swear by doing it every morning before breakfast. You can do it whilst waiting for the kettle to boil!
What works for you in terms of striking a work/life balance?
I’m self employed now so have a lot more control than when I was employment. I did used to work very long hours at times. I’m lucky I can switch off when I’m not at work. I think that’s important & if you can do that you’re not wasting your spare time.
What is your ideal beauty routine?
Removing make up before bed and getting a good 8 hours sleep. This doesn’t always happen of course especially if I’ve had a big night out at the weekend.
How do you nourish your body and mind?
I try to eat a balanced diet although chocolate is my downfall. I exercise and meditate. I’m a music lover and always listening to something. I find it lifts my spirit better than anything and is also a form of meditation for me. I am obviously a big fan of massage. It’s a wonderful therapy for relaxation of the mind and body.
Why do you think there’s a growing demand for natural products?
People want to know what ingredients are being used in products now and are more informed on the damages caused by artificial additives and chemicals. Lots of modern ailments are man-made.
What contributes most to your happiness?
The health of my loved ones & myself of course. Spending time with like minded people making the most of the here and now.
What lifestyle & beauty tips would you pass to others?
Be kind even to those who may not necessarily deserve your kindness. Smile - it’s infectious and your day will be much better because you do. Invest in a good red lipstick - you can take on the world with a great red lip!
Our Skin Elixir blog will feature ideas to nourish the skin you're in.
