Helen Pinnock is founder of the Wellbeing Clinic in West Bridgford, a counselling and complementary health clinic and the Wellbeing Business School, created to teach holistic therapists to run the wellbeing business of their dreams.
How important do you find self-nourishment is?
For me self-nourishment and self-love are vital to my personal wellbeing. In my early twenties, I struggled with the symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome I then found the world of wellbeing and gradually learnt to listen to what my body and mind were telling me. Consequently I embraced a healthier more natural lifestyle. As I have get older, I strive to create balance through clean eating, holistic therapies and personal development.
What works for you in terms of striking a work/life balance?
In the early days of my business I could easily fall into the trap of working too long into the night and at weekends. I learnt that I had to create healthy boundaries for myself.
Nowadays I try to not work at weekends, or answer e-mails whilst on holiday. I have learnt over the years there is very little that cannot wait until the next day. I think it is important to be fully present with the people in my life, when I am not working. I achieve healthy work life balance most of the time however, if I don’t always achieve this I try not to feel guilty about working to much as guilt is such a destructive emotion.
What is your ideal beauty routine?
I have a very simple beauty routine I drink celery juice and lots of water to hydrate my skin I also cleanse and moisturise my face every day.
How do you nourish your body and mind?
I eat a clean diet that suits my body’s needs, I also love to go paddle boarding, the experience of being on the water is good for my soul, I feel as though it helps to clear my mind and spirit. It is no surprise that I am a big fan of holistic therapies, I have craniosacral therapy every fortnight to keep my body and mind in balance. Along with the occasional massage or flotation session.
Why do you think there’s a growing demand for natural products?
I think we are all becoming more aware of the need to not just pay attention to what we put in our mouths but what we put on our skin. I personally would always choose a natural product to minimise the effect chemicals have on my hormones.
What contributes most to your happiness?
It is really important to me to live in line with my personal values and authentic self.
What lifestyle & beauty tips would you pass to others?
I think the most important advice that I would give is to learn to listen to what your body is telling you, our bodies have an innate wisdom that is constantly communicating its knowledge to us. Whether physical, emotional or spiritual if we learn to listen to this knowledge we can find our joy, vitality and creativity.
