NOURISH THE SKIN YOU'RE IN
The fantastic and fascinating women's health expert, Pamela Windle joins us today to give us her top tips to nourish the skin you're in.
1. What do you do as part of a regular routine to look yourself?
I’ve always looked after myself to some extent as I’ve been a personal trainer since 2003, so eating well and moving my body has been a way of life for a long time. Nowadays as a women’s health coach I’m very diligent as I’ve suffered with viral fatigue for the past five years. Some might say I’m over the top but when it comes to my health I take it very seriously.
There are a few daily routines that are a ‘must’. I make sure I’m in bed no later than 9.30 pm most nights and lights are out by 10pm. I usually spend that time listening to an audio book or a podcast which is usually something about health or something inspirational.
The other ‘must’ is that I practice diaphragmatic breathing during the day because it has a powerful impact on my life and I believe it’s something everyone should try. It’s a powerful tool for the female body and helps calm the nervous system and helps protect our pelvic floor muscles too.
2. What are the key things you have found that nurture self-nourishment?
Of course, I’m going to say everything! It’s a combination of eating wholesome foods, drinking plenty of water, laughter, sexual intimacy, daily movement, getting plenty of daily light, quality sleep, having a purpose in life and feeling connected with like-minded people who understand and support me.
3. What could you do more of to nourish the skin you're in?
But let me tell you about my skin routine… I don’t really have one, I never have. I use organic soap, face cream and body moisturiser but that’s it…haha! I know so many people would be horrified. For me great skin stems from having hormonal balance and when you have that your skin becomes radiant too.
The key is not to do more, but to continue practicing radical self care.
4. What top tips have you got to give others around your working life to stay on top?
I’d say spend time listening to your intuition and give yourself space just to relax and be with your own thoughts regularly.
Often we know what we need to do to stay on top but we ignore the warning signs. It’s usually when we are so busy looking after others and trying to be super woman.
5. What are the things you couldn't live without that are key to your happiness and nourishment?
I don’t think I could live without loving connections with my daughter, partner, family members and friends. I guess other things would also include wholesome foods, going to bed early and sunshine.
