NOURISH THE SKIN YOU'RE IN
Today the delectable chanteuse and creative dynamo, Jaq Gallier shares some of her pearls of wisdom to nourish the skin you're in.
1. What do you do as part of a regular routine to look yourself?
Thank you for inviting me to share Shona :)
Well, since I’ve experienced a recent heartbreak I’ve really had to learn to look after ME more! My regular routine is working out at least 20 min a day. It can be daunting as I’ve got a teenager to micromanage at home. Hot water with lemon and of course a caramel soy latte! In the evenings I eat less, I love salads with sunflower and pumpkin seeds and a Caesar dressing. For a drink I have a hot ginger and lemon tea with 15ml of Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother). I cleanse my face every night with Turmeric face wash, and loads of cold pressed Rosehip oil to moisturise especially in the winter months.
2. What are the key things you have found that nurture self-nourishment?
I have had to relearn how to love myself more. Make sure I eat, make sure I sleep and feel comfort in my life. I drink loads of water everyday, as I feel that being dehydrated can affect my mind-set. I tend to isolate and I’ve been getting myself out more socially to avoid being so insular and experience other people more and don’t forget laugh laugh laugh!
3. What could you do more of to nourish the skin you're in?
I’d like to try more organic ways of skincare via food I eat, mindfulness and love that I give and keep.
4. What top tips have you got to give others around your working life to stay on top?
As a single mum I really find it difficult to practice self care. I have taken baby steps toward making sure I check in with me. I used meditation videos daily and have spiritual healings done once a month. The healings are my way of spiritually looking after me.
I recommend that every working woman, mum or not, find spiritual stability from within first. As Ru Paul says.. “If you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody eles?!” Can I get an Amen?!”
5. What are the things you couldn't live without that are key to your happiness and nourishment?
I enjoy taking long walks in nature. Luckily it’s right on my doorstep. I love being a mum! My son is my world! He makes me happy and nourishes my soul, as it’s the purest unconditional love. I believe unconditional love and music are the best healers of the soul! Sing your life!
