NOURISH THE SKIN YOU'RE IN
Today we feature fantastic Nottingham writer, Mackenzie Lian's recommendations to nourish the skin you're in.
1. What do you do as part of a regular routine to look after yourself?
I like to think that I eat well (most of the time) and I try to go to the gym twice a week. I’m all about a good night’s sleep too, I can’t function without it!
When it comes to my skin, I’m proud to say that in my 23 years of life I’ve never slept with my makeup on and I keep my skincare regime pretty simple.
I also have my hair coloured regularly but that’s more out of necessity than an active attempt to look after myself - I’ve been going grey since I was 15!
2. What are the key things you have found that nurture self-nourishment?
Making time. If I don’t book a gym class in advance, schedule in a free weekend to have some down time, or say no to a dinner date that could wait a few weeks, I find it all too easy to get caught up in the routine of working or socialising and forget to just chill.
3. What could you do more of to nourish the skin you're in?
Stop worrying! My skin would be better, I’d sleep properly, be more productive and I’m pretty sure the bags under my eyes would half in size but I’m a natural born worrier who finds it difficult to switch off. It’s something I’m working on though.
4. What top tips have you got to give others around your working life to stay on top?
5. What are the things you couldn't live without that are key to your happiness and nourishment?
My dogs! Their little faces really do bring a smile to my face each and every day.
Family, good friends and my boyfriend. There’s nothing I enjoy more than a late breakfast and a good cup of coffee with them on a Sunday morning.
Writing. Yes it’s my job but it’s also something I love to do.
