NOURISH THE SKIN YOU'RE IN
Today we get top tips to nourish the skin you're in from all round goddess, mover, shaker, music and wellness maker Parisa East.
1. What do you do as part of a regular routine to look yourself?
Herbal teas, baths, stretching, positive affirmations, prayer and using lots of natural beauty products like face oils, body butters and hair oils! These things make me a happier and more balanced person, which has in turn made me look and feel better more often.
2. What are the key things you have found that nurture self-nourishment?
Meditation, or even just a few minutes breathing space where I focus on exactly what I'm doing/feeling in the moment. Anxiety is much easier to diffuse by getting to grips with your thoughts and emotions, and learning how to be comfortable with yourself (flaws and all) in any environment.
Intermittent fasting has been great for me. It helps me feel stronger mentally, lose stubborn belly fat and I believe has impacted my skin healing better.
Singing also feels good, especially when I'm freestyling and making up silly sentences.
3. What could you do more of to nourish the skin you're in?
Stress less, exercise more, sleep more, eat a lot less sugar and a lot more fresh foods.
4. What top tips have you got to give others around your working life to stay on top?
Don't feel guilty about prioritising yourself, and don't feel guilty when you 'can't find the time' to do things that are beneficial to your health. Sometimes doing nothing at all is way healthier than rushing around trying to fit it all in. My top tip is to stop counting time altogether and realise that we are all children on this Earth, and babies in the Universe.
5. What are the things you couldn't live without that are key to your happiness and nourishment?
God/spirituality, personal space, jojoba oil, lemons, chocolate, olive oil, kale, sleep, silence when I need it, water - drinking it, bathing in it, swimming in it, and Vitamin D sun beds so I keep topped up year round!
