NOURISH THE SKIN YOU'RE IN
We welcome Chai Larden an all round wonderful woman, singer-songwriter, student and mum, to share her top tips to nourish the skin you're in.
1. What do you do as part of a regular routine to look yourself?
I try to drink a lot of water! I find that when I’m dehydrated, my skin looks dry and I feel less energised. I’m usually rushing around for most of the week and I don’t put too much thought into my routine. If I look clean when I run out of the door then I’m good with that!
2. What are the key things you have found that nurture self-nourishment?
I think it’s important to remember that you get out what you put in. I tend to have a penchant for the bad things like drinking and smoking and late nights. They take their toll and I definitely notice that I look worn when I’ve been burning the candle at both ends. When I eat healthy and take care of myself, it shows and I feel better for it. It’s just hard to do that all of the time. I do try though!
3. What could you do more of to nourish the skin you're in?
I tend to leave my skin and not think about it and then look at myself and think ‘God!’ And then pamper myself and spoil it. I’m a binge skin carer! I think I could definitely make taking care of my skin part of a daily routine. I take it for granted. Sorry skin :(
4. What top tips have you got to give others around your working life to stay on top?
If I’m honest, I feel like I’m spinning plates most of the time. If I appear to be on top then it’s definitely a fluke! I try to stay positive with work and enjoy it for what it is. I believe that positivity breeds positivity and it makes me feel good when I know that I’ve made someone else smile.
5. What are the things you couldn't live without that are key to your happiness and nourishment?
Spiritually and mentally I couldn't live without my friends and family. They nourish me and support me in unfathomable ways. I feel like I wouldn't have the strength to be who I am if it wasn’t for them.
The rest of my happiness lays in a cup of well made Yorkshire tea!
